It's a beautiful morning here at Radka Park. The tournament was officially kicked off this morning with a grand opening ceremony attended by Mayor Ashley Swearengin, Council members and other City officials. Mayor Swearengin thanked Central Cal Baseball and Terence Frazier for their partnership with Fresno City's Adopt a Park program, and TJ Cox with the Central Valley Sports Foundation (CVSF) for funding the revitalization of Al Radka Park. Council members & Officials spoke about the importance of providing fields & parks for the youth of Fresno to have opportunities to play sports.

The Central Cal Board was presented with a $40,000 check from CVSF at the end of the ceremony and dignitaries through out the first pitches.

About Radka Park

CC entered into a partnership with the City of Fresno to upgrade the park and Coach Frazier has plans for CC to put nearly $80,000 of improvements into the park, including coverings that will protect players and fans from flying foul balls!  Since 2009, the City has been partnering with groups to fill the need to keep Fresno’s parks in good shape at a time with funds were short to do so.  By partnering with the City, CC is going to provide a better environment for baseball at the park, as well providing extra days for Sunnyside Little League to hold games, allowing that area’s premier youth baseball recreational league to expand by an estimated 100 kids.

CC will also provide skills camps for kids who live around the park and the other unique programming CC provides in our normal work.  The park will also hold 6-7 tournaments per year that will help CC raise funds for scholarships, provide funding for coaching and help keep costs down to the parents in the Academy. We have given the project the hashtag #RadkaReborn and plan to log the facelift of the park from start to finish on our CC website and Facebook page.

If you have any thoughts on how you can help with the park renovation or would like to help sell a banner for the outfield fence to help offset monthly maintenance costs, e-mail ccbaseballacademy@gmail.com. Your team will receive a portion of the banner sales proceeds to help offset your team’s cost in a future event. Thanks for being part of the rebirth of this great asset for Fresno and all of Central California
